When I married your Dad, I made the best decision of my life.
He is loving. He is patient. He is supportive. He is fun. He is hard working. He is God fearing. He is funny (but don't tell him I said that). He challenges me, pushes me, and holds me accountable. He proves again and again that he is the best Dad, always coming home from 24 hour, sleepless shifts ready to play with you.
He isn't perfect and things aren't always easy; in fact, sometimes they're incredibly difficult but that's okay. I signed up for that. When we said for better or for worse, we meant it. When Ruth 1:16-17 was read at our wedding, it was our heart for always.
To my boys, my sons...I hope you aspire to be like your father. He is an incredible man. He's honest and truthful. He loves me the way that God loves the church, fully and wholeheartedly. He sacrifices for me, for you, for us. I pray you will be those kind of men.
To my daughters...I pray someday you'll marry a man like your father. A man who always dates and courts you. A man who takes your kids to the park so you can spend a little time by yourself. A man who supports your dreams and works just as hard to make them come true. A man who treats you with respect and honor. A man who loves you unconditionally.
I pray you all have the privilege of marrying someone you love and working through it all..the positives and the negatives. I pray you learn and know that marriage is worth it through our model. And I pray you know that we love you, always.
“Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me." II Ruth 1:16-17
