Community & Coffee

Being a stay at home mom can be an isolating feeling. I realize how terribly blessed I am to have the opportunity to be at home with my son and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but a little adult social interaction here and there can really go a long way in keeping me positive and connected to the outside world.

I'm super lucky to have several good friends who are also young, stay at home moms too, and we try to get together as often as possible. It's good for the kids and it is so good for us.

I love inviting people into the comfort of my own home, so earlier this week I called a few mommy friends and invited them over for coffee (my life blood) and yummy bakery snacks. I knew we'd be meeting earlier in the day and I thought brunch foods...donuts, muffins, cinnamon bread, frosted lemon cake...would be perfect for a casual get together; plus, all of the snacks were perfect for toddlers to munch on too.

I purchased Gevalia coffee (House Blend & Vanilla flavored) at my local Safeway store for the very first time and I will absolutely be a return customer. I usually can't tell the difference in coffee brands, but this was obvious. The taste was super smooth and I loved the treat of the vanilla coffee with all of the yummy baked goods. My fellow coffee aficionados/moms agreed.

We chatted all of your typical mommy stuff, funny kiddo and husband stories, and our recent Father's Day sermon at church. So very good for my soul (and sanity) to have conversations beyond choo choo's and puppies. Plus, each of these get togethers helps me continue jumping back into community -- sharing my stories, my "junk."

Which little hands do you think snagged this piece of cinnamon bread? So cute.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
