Happy Valentine's Day and welcome to week twelve of Copycat Linkup! Do you have any big Valentine's Day plans? Cody and I celebrated on Tuesday (with no Valentine's Day crowds) with a trip to Cheesecake Factory and an afternoon at Barnes and Noble. Whatever you're doing today or tonight, I hope you have a great time. And I hope you have an outfit planned that makes you feel special...we all deserve that now and then.
If you're new to this whole thing and not exactly sure what this linkup is all about, here it is in a nutshell...Take style inspiration from anything -- Pinterest, a magazine, an advertisement, your favorite fashion blogger, ANYTHING -- and transfer that inspiration into your own style using pieces that you currently own. Simple and fun, right? If you'd like, you can read more about my original purpose and inspiration, here.
It's hard for me to say where my inspiration for this week came from. There's pins of this look on Pinterest but I also know I've seen it around the blog world too, so I guess you could say I've been inspired by mutiple outlets. For the sake of having an example, here's the look found on Pinterest...

This look is super easy to pull off, and can also be done with a maxi dress if you don't have a maxi skirt -- which is exactly what I did. I love that chambray is still all the rage and I really hope it stays that way, it's versatile and easy for anyone to wear. I bought my chambray top three years ago and still love it.
Maxi dress: Groopdealz // Chambray top: New York and Company // Black boots: Target
I kind of wish I had added a belt like the inspiration picture to give a little bit more separation in the top and bottom. And I've made note to get a super sparkly necklace for outfits like this. Honestly, I'm not really a jewelry girl, I wear the same James Avery pieces almost every day but I think the statement necklace definitely works here.
Your turn! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
And don't forget we'll be pinning all of your looks on our Copycat Linkup Pinterest board.
