Copycat Linkup {7}

I'm so glad to have you here for week 7 of Copycat Linkup! If this your first time seeing this weekly linkup, it's not too late to join! This week's linkup will stay open til Monday at noon, and, of course, we'll be back next Thursday!

This week's co-host is Julie from Back to the Basics. Mary and I met Julie at Influence Conference and ended up spending a lot of time with her. She is just as sweet as she seems on her blog and has two of the cutest kids I've ever seen. Their blonde hair is to die for. Julie is also a regular contributor at Fancy Little Things, where she contributes photography tips. I'd really love for you stop by Julie's blog and say hello!

If you're new to this whole thing and not exactly sure what this linkup is all about, here it is in a nutshell...Take style inspiration from anything -- Pinterest, a magazine, an advertisement, your favorite fashion blogger, ANYTHING -- and transfer that inspiration into your own style using pieces that you currently own. Simple and fun, right? If you'd like, you can read more about my original purpose and inspiration, here.

Here's my inspiration outfit for this week...
I was so happy when I found this look because I have a similar dress in my closet that I've never worn. I bought it several months ago through an Instagram shop. It fits me pretty much perfectly, but because I'm on the tall side, it's a little too short for comfort. However, after seeing this look, I decided to just for it..with a few minor adjustments. Here's my spin on this look...

 Black cardigan: Kohls // Coral & grey polka dot dress: Modcloth // Black leggings: Target // Motorcycle ankle boots: Target

I added the tights so that I didn't feel like I was showing too much leg. I don't mind wearing leggings under a dress, but I'm not sure I like how dark these are...I'd like to find light grey tights to compliment the polka dots. I do love my motorcycle boots with this look. With something so big and clunky, you have to be extra careful what you pair them with. I think they're a lot of fun with such a feminine dress.

Sorry about the poor indoor lighting, we've had almost constant rain for the past two days so it was pretty much impossible to get one outside. And it's so gloomy that opening the blinds did absolutely nothing for "natural lighting."

And because I try to keep it completely honest around here...I took off this outfit as soon as I snapped these pictures. Because even though it feels great to actually put effort into how I look, some days it's completetly necessary to just lounge around in yoga pants and a tshirt. A rainy Wednesday was definitely one of those days.

You can see Mary's look here, and Julie's look here. And don't forget, we'll be pinning YOUR outfits on our Copycat Linkup Pinterest board! Can't wait to see what you put together.
