Copycat Linkup {4}

Welcome to week four of Copycat Linkup! This week the lovely Lena of Lena B, Actually is co-hosting with us and I am so excited to have her. She is an amazing momma, photographer, and has style for days. What really drew me to Lena's blog was her transparency about her son, Memphis, and his diagnosis of Autism. She continues to share her struggles, her joys, her journey through it and it is so beautiful to read about and experience. I really hope you'll take some time to check out her wonderful blog.

If you're new to this whole thing and not exactly sure what this linkup is all about, here it is in a nutshell...Take style inspiration from anything -- Pinterest, a magazine, an advertisement, your favorite fashion blogger, ANYTHING -- and transfer that inspiration into your own style using pieces that you currently own. Simple and fun, right? If you'd like, you can read more about my original purpose and inspiration, here.

We've been experiencing warm weather here in Texas (high 70's in December?!) so it's been a little hard to really feel like it's Christmas. One reason I love the winter season is because I love layering, but it's a little too warm to be doing that right now. When I found this week's inspiration picture, I knew I'd found the perfect balance of layers and something that I wouldn't get too warm in.
Super cute, right?  I didn't own a vest like this, nor did I want to buy one but I did happen to have an army green jacket hanging in my closet. I hadn't worn the jacket in over a year, so...I cut the sleeves off. I'm so glad I did.

I wore my newly made vest over a sheer mustard yellow and white polka dot blouse, and I loved it just like I thought I would. One of my most favorite things about this jacket was the tailoring done around the waist, it keeps it from being too boxy and unflattering.

Here is my copycat of the above look...

 Jacket made vest: American Eagle, similar here // Blouse: Target // Skinny jeans: Kohl's, Levi brand //
Nude flats: Payless // Necklace c/o Lisa Leonard Designs, here

First, forgive the poor was a cloudy, overcast day...also forgive the condition of our back fence...we're working on it. But most importantly, this is so easy, right? You can still get the feeling of those cute, winter layers without getting too warm.

You can see Mary's copycat look for the week right here. And you can find the lovely Lena's look right here. Also, don't forget to check out our Copycat Linkup Pinterest board where we'll be pinning all of your fabulous looks! I can't wait to see what you put together.
