Pinterest. A necessary evil, no? It's great. Recipes, DIY projects, and crafts galore. But if you're anything like me, you feel totally intimidated. Maybe you wish you attempted all of those fun crafts with your kiddos this summer...you know, toddler busy bags and some thing using paint chips...but, you just didn't.

Luckily, before this summer ends you still have a few chances to do some really great crafts and all at no expense! During the month of August, GapKids will be hosting "Shine On Saturdays" in select stores all over the country.

All of these crafts have been designed by Merrilee Liddiard of Mer Mag and are inspired by GAPKids and babyGap fall collection. Through these crafts your kids will receive guiding steps but still have the opportunity to express their own individuality. I've personally checked out Merrilee's blog and have "pinned" have several of the crafts listed there; including this free printable domino activity, so I really can't wait to see the crafts she has set up for these events.

If you're in the Dallas area like I am, there are two different events that you can attend! That's two opportunities to get the kiddos out of the house and crafting. And honestly, if you're like me, I've been cooped up in the house avoiding this horrible heat.

The first Dallas event is Saturday, August 18th from 10 am-1 pm at GapKids at Stonebriar Mall in Frisco. The second Dallas event is Saturday, August 25th from 10 am-1 pm at GapKids at Northpark Mall in Dallas.

Gunner is obviously a little too young to participate in crafts, but I'm planning on getting together with some of my mom friends with older kids, and attending one of the craft days. If you're in the Dallas area and thinking about going, let me know! I'd love to meet up!

What do you guys think? I really love the idea of a store hosting a time for families to come together and work on fun crafts, as well as a store encouraging kids to be creative and express themselves.

Do you love this GapKids #ShineOn idea/event as much as I do?

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
