My Weekend Away

This past weekend was my first weekend away from G. My church held their yearly weekend women's retreat so I was able to get a little time to myself, spend some time with friends, and learn a lot. Thank for all of the prayers while I was away from G, I didn't realize I could miss someone so much.

The weekend started off interesting. I drove to the retreat with my friend and cousin-in-law, Caty, and while driving down the highway toward Ft. Worth I noticed my low tire pressure light was on. After a quick button push, we realized my front left tire pressure was at 9 while my front right was at 35. The only place we were able pull off was a not so safe area where we quickly called my father in law (Cody was on shift) who met us to help change our tired. Unfortunately, the lug nuts were so tight on the flat tire that we weren't able to get it off so we had to call AAA. And even more unfortunately, the lug nuts were so tight AAA couldn't get them off so we had to have the car towed to the dealership.

I was determined to not let our car mishap ruin my weekend and thankfully, my father in law let us borrow his car and we continued the drive to the retreat. We arrived just in time to eat a quick dinner, put our bags in our room, and get settled for our first session. We had wonderful worship and learned about what God promises us in those moments we feel invisible.

After our night session we had a late night movie watching party and went to bed. I got to sleep in till 7:00, had a big breakfast, and we enjoyed a quiet time by the lake.

During our quiet time we wrote about the person we are inside...our fears, our insecurities, our wants, our desires.

Our last two sessions addressed the questions "God, Do You Know I'm A Sinner?" and "God, Who Do You Want Me To Be?" Our guest speaker shared a wonderful verse and message in the session about who God wants us to be that I'll take time to share later, so be on the look out for that.

Our drive home was much easier and I was so happy to see both of my boys when I got home.  After feeling a little under the weather this morning, we went to Chipotle for lunch and ran a few errands.

I can't wait to share more about what I learned at a later time. I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Did you do anything special or exciting?
