Mother's Day

Cody was on shift on actual Mother's Day so we celebrated our Mother's Day on Saturday. A shift schedule is one of those things you just have to learn to deal with when it comes to celebrating, but we always make it work.

We went to a big breakfast at a local restaurant, got Starbucks coffee, went to our church's Saturday night service, and then finished with dinner out to eat at Chili's. It was low key and favorite kind of celebration.

We did do one part of Mother's Day in a lavish way. We don't buy big gifts too often. Cody and I are two very content people, and I really mean that. I feel blessed to have what I have and so does he. But Cody surprised me big and bought me a pair of diamond earrings. They're a simple heart shape that I absolutely adore. Cody knows that I like simple jewelry pieces, pieces that I can wear every day and he bought me just that.

I have to share the sweet story of Cody buying my earrings. He told me that he knew he needed to do something "big" for my first Mother's Day so he headed to the jewelry store. Unfortunately, G was fussy and crying by the time he arrived to the store. Code told me that he handed G off to the nearest sales woman who rocked him in her desk chair while using the white noise app (what always calms him down). G fell asleep in the woman's arms after a few minutes of crying and Cody spent the rest of the time shopping with another sales woman.

I think I might love the story just as much as I love the earrings. I can just picture my two men looking lost in a jewelry store, but still trying to find something special for me. I am so blessed to have the two of them. I am so in love with them both...the one who stole my heart five years ago and the one who stole my heart again three months ago.

I hope you all had a great Mother's Day.
